Recommendation
Ensure IEEE members are made aware of the actions arising out of the Sections Congress recommendations, as well as providing status follow up reports.
.

Comments on Recommendation
How seriously are these recommendations taken by the IEEE brass or alternatively, one should ask how quickly does the IEEE brass forget the recommendations once the Sections Congress is over until the one three years later?
Has anybody received a progress report on the action taken on the top 5 or 10 recommendations of the 2011 Sections Congress?
A recommendation asking the IEEE brass to take effective action to fulfill at least the top recommendations of the Sections Congress was among the top 5 recommendations of the 2008 Sections Congress. Beyond paying a lip service to it, nothing concrete come out of it.

Response from IEEE Canada President (where warranted)
.
IEEE does indeed greatly value the input of members as expressed through the Recommendations Development process.
.
If our members are not aware of the action that has been taken on the top recommendations from previous Sections Congresses, then perhaps this relates to the communications challenges of a very large organization, something alluded to in other recommendations submitted by our members in Region 7 (IEEE Canada).
.
Of the 30-40 recommendations that are prioritized at Sections Congress itself by Section delegates, Member Geographic Activities (MGA) does report progress towards implementation of the top five.
.

Within IEEE Canada, recommendations that have some elements that we can act on independently are currently being identified, and exploration undertaken as to what extent we can implement them. Examples of these would be recommendations #11 and #43, referencing recording/broadcasting of Section level seminars and streamlining of Section web sites, respectively.
